Quick Fixes Bring Big Improvements

INITIAL CHALLENGES: Rarely, when moving into a house, does the existing decor match your choices. This family moved into the house with the knowledge that they would eventually update all the bathrooms and the kitchen, but just needed help with the bathrooms, laundry, and media room for now. This house is 6800 sqft and was originally built in 2010.

SOLUTION: Knowing that they will want to spend more money on the upcoming kitchen remodel, I decided to keep the existing hexagon flooring in the girls’ jack-and-jill bathroom and use chrome as the metal color since it is more cost effective. We wanted to replace the builder-grade shallow tub with a tub that was deeper. We kept the color palette neutral for all the bathrooms, since eventually they would replace the carpet throughout the house.

The laundry room size was to be envied but the layout was subpar. By moving the washer/dryer to one side, we were able to create a whole wall of storage for hanging clothes, hampers, and pet care.

The media room was originally a “themed” media room, red curtains, red walls, and was not at all to the customers tastes. They wanted to modernize it. This room features an LED ceiling meant to recreate the stars in the sky, has leather recliners with cupholders, and has new carpet, paint, and sconces.
